A Fifty-Page Manuscript was Recently Completed by an Up-And-Coming Author About the “Ordinary” Aspects of Childhood.

Makenzie Vance, a local author, completed the first draft of her most recent book on Monday March 4th, 2019. The book has been in process since December of last year and is planned to be finished within the coming year.

​

The book consists of a compilation of short stories, flash fiction, and narrative poems. It is about seemingly ordinary aspects of childhood and the more unordinary events that happen while maturing.  The collection of narratives puts a funny, new or thoughtful spin on relatable aspects endured while learning how the world works

​

The stories center around her life starting at stories she was told about herself during infancy and extends to her senior year of college. They are all written from her own perspective and feature her three brothers, parents, and people she came in contact with.

​

Makenzie Vance was born in Alaska and moved to Utah during her childhood where she stayed. She attended Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Creative Writing as well as a Technical Writing Certificate. She attended the university at the same time as her older bother and twin brother.
